29th Ward Veterans' Peace Garden Memorial Day Commemoration 2024

On May 23, 2024, the South Austin Neighborhood Association (SANA) hosted the Austin Veterans and Community Organization (AVCO) in the 29th Ward Veterans' Peace Garden for a pre-Memorial Day Observance in memoriam of William N. Dale. Mr. Dale was an Austin community activist and a veteran of the United States Army. Members of the Michele Clark Academic Prep Magnet High School JROTC also participated in this event.

The memoriam featured speeches by William Dale's widow Ruth Dale and members of the American Legion, and a performance of TAPS by a local bugler. Participants lit candles in memory of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to our country.
