Our thoughts and prayers go to the families touched by the mass shooting on Madison and Lockwood on March 30, 2024. The South Austin Neighborhood Association is committed to creating safe spaces for the residents of South Austin to gather, learn, and celebrate. That such acts of extreme violence occurred steps from the 29th Ward Veterans Peace Garden, South Austin's premiere space for gathering and fellowship, shakes us to our very core. We must find ways to work together, with our residents and business owners, to put a stop to the gun violence that plagues our community and especially our youth. We will be watching for further developments in the case and as more is learned about how this tragedy occurred, we may invite community and business leaders to a Peace Talks in the Park to collaborate on a solution. On this Easter Sunday, we wish peace for the families, as weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
